Exhibitor Profile: Swallow Boats

Swallowboats specialise in designing, developing and manufacturing high quality boats, often with a traditional style, but built using modern materials and techniques. Our workshops are located on the west coast of Wales, on the banks of the picturesque Teifi estuary, that empties into Cardigan Bay.

Although fantastic in summer, during the winter gale force westerlies create demanding sailing conditions, which are always in the back of our minds when developing a new idea. We pride ourselves on the combination of beauty and functionality at the heart of all our designs and we firmly believe that a boat must look right if she is to be to be of lasting value to those who use her.

Swallow's innovative spirit and design expertise have led us to develop a pedal boat - not just a pedalo, but a craft capable of decent speeds and distances. In September 2006 Winsome was publicly launched at 'The Broads Green Boat Show - A Silent Sensation' at Salhouse Broad, Wroxham.

The venue was fitting, since the concept was inspired in large part by David Williams' Cyclone pedal canoe, which has cruised the Norfolk Broads for 40 years. Winsome is the first commercialisation of David's basic design concept of a pedal boat with a two-person crew facing each other.
