Contropedale
From Taurus
The Taurus Contropedale is a classic design of the utmost simplicity. The use of a traditional material (steel) and time honoured construction methods (brazed lugs) delivers a frame with clean lines and a beauty which is lacking from most modern designs.
The function and simplicity have been further enhanced by the use of a single speed combined with a coaster or back-pedal (hence Contropedale) brake rear hub. There are no cables or cable stops to clutter the lines. The two obvious concessions to practicality only seem to enhance the bikes' good looks, mudguards and a good old fashioned chain case keep the spray off the back of your back and keeps the oil on the chain where it belongs.
The perfect ride for 'Tweed Riders' who want to re-live a happier more innocent time before indexed gears, aluminium frames and antibiotics. Or just someone who wants a simple bike with little to go wrong.
