The Waldmeister wooden frame is not only elegant and exceptional to the eye, it also surprises with its numerous sophisticated technical details. The frame concept has been computer modelled to guarantee durability and to make optimal use of the unique properties of wood. Beechwood is our material of choice for the frame because it is tough and has a dense structure.

Curved in one single, uninterrupted arc and constructed without a full-length seat tube, the upper half of the frame reacts to forces from above and vibrations from below like a leaf spring. The thickness of the wood layers has been carefully calculated to offer as much comfort as possible while still preventing a build-up of vibrations. The gentle curve of the lower half of the frame dramatically improves stiffness. The frame consists of nearly 100 extremely thin layers of wood - the fibres of each layer are aligned at a 90° angle to improve stability. One by one, the layers are then glued together with environmentally friendly glue and pressed in a mould at high pressure, making the material much more durable than ordinary wood.
