Speedy-Bike
From Speedy Reha Technik
The Speedy Bike was the first propulsion attachment for a wheelchair, and was developed as early as 1994 by Speedy. It is therefore a classic amongst our products and has proven itself in everyday use a thousand times over. We have been able to transfer the principle of the simple coupling mechanism and lifting system to the development of all our other products.
The Speedy Bike was conceived for everyday use by adult riders, so the frame is extremely robust and its double powder coating makes it particularly resistant to rust, scuffing and scratches.
The luggage rack can be adjusted for height and standard cycle panniers can be attached to it: making it a welcome and reliable way to carry things. Even with a load on the front wheel the Speedy Bike remains extremely manoeuvrable and easy to handle. The seven-speed Shimano hub gears of the standard version are operated by a robust twist grip mounted on the frame. The fully enclosing chainguard protects against injury from chainwheel and chain, while changing gear.
You not only power the machine with the hand pedals, but you also steer with them, so a variably adjustable steering damper avoids inadvertent steering wobbles.. By making this easy adjustment you have full choice as to the amount of effort you put into steering. When not in use, the Speedy Bike can be parked safely by engaging the stand. The stand also makes it easier to attach the Speedy Bike and, in its ‘up' position, helps prevent your feet slipping off the footrest.
