Exhibitor Profile: Foffa Bikes
Foffa the custom bicycle business grew from Dani Foffa’s passion for working on vintage bikes. He started in 2007, working out of his tiny London apartment and within two short years was generating enough business to risk giving up his day job in the City.
He teamed up with good friend photographer Tyson Sadlo to create Foffa Bikes and with the help of a few more cyclist friends turned co-workers opened a shop in East London.
They sell a range of high quality and affordable parts and complete bikes. But they aren’t like other shops.
Foffa have taken a fresh approach to the selling of bicycles. The traditional industry model was rejected in favour of their own highly customer centred system. Foffa owners are given the unique opportunity to customize their bikes at the point of ordering. Frame, forks, tyres and grips are available in a wide range of different colours and in a myriad of combinations to suit every taste. Customers choose from a range of four different handlebar set-ups: flats, drops, risers and cow horns. A choice of wheels is available too. So it’s possible to design a bike which is absolutely unique.
Other innovative projects include the ‘Stick your Fix’ range of designer graphics for frame tubes and the ‘Ciao’ concept bike (pictured) and, probably the only one of its kind, a fixed-wheel bike rental service: 'rent-A-fixed'.
Foffa bikes are available directly or through their growing network of dealers in the UK and abroad.
Cyclorama Blog met up with Foffa at the 2011 CYCLE Show at the NEC.
