Exhibitor Profile: Kona Bicycles
Kona is based in Ferndale, Washington and Vancouver, British Columbia and is best known for its range of high-performance mountain bikes. Kona also produces road bikes, street bikes and kids bikes. Proud of their ‘non-mainstream' reputation Kona regularly produce relatively low volume ‘niche' models simply because they want to.
The company name comes from the owners' love of Kailua-Kona in Hawaii so it was a natural that the bicycles started out with Hawaiian and volcanic model names like the Cinder Cone, Explosif, Hei Hei (Hawaiian for "race"), Hahannah (Hawaiian for "hot"), Fire Mountain, Hot, Lava Dome and Kilauea. Konas sense of humour is evident in model names such as Humuhumu-Nukunuku-A-pua, a cruiser named after a Hawaiian fish.
Kona was founded in 1988 by Jacob Heilbron, Dan Gerhard and early MTB champion Joe Murray. Jake and Dan still own and run the company.

Amongst the staff (and their families) of Cyclorama there are more Kona's than any other brand. Need we say more?
