Exhibitor Profile: Radnabel
Tübingen is an old university city in Southern Germany, known for its theological and medical colleges. Who would have thought that in a humble workshop in the Old Town, one of the most dedicated and most interesting cycle-makers in Germany has his home?
Dieter Baumann is a man of many talents. He has also applied his artistic flair and creativity to music. But the mechanical engineering graduate is also a bicycle magician. With much love and an eye for quality and detail, he has been building bicycles in his workshop for many years. His creations are however also strictly designed with practical, everyday city use in mind - the green conscience of the city.
Herr Baumann's "Alltagslieger" are bicycles that stand out in the world of recumbent bicycling, demonstrating the technological aptitude that Swabia is famed for. Rather than following every ephemeral trend in the industry, Baumann's company Radnabel remains unswervingly true to the production of worthwhile, real-life bicycle masterpieces. Combining comfort and everyday practicality has always been one of its most important development criteria.
His ATL's are not only fast but also extremely useful bikes, summer and winter. Their suspension design is reminiscent of the work of Sir Alex Moulton, the great British bike pioneer - and their evolution is certain to continue: Baumann is not a man to rest on his laurels!
