The Fuel-Tank Flyer
A unique recumbent trike based on the fuel tank from a decommissioned Russian fighter jet.
In an act of tremendous symbolism Jacek Ziolkowski made himself a human-powered vehicle out of the fuel tank of a dismantled Mig-17 fighter aircraft. These pictures were taken before the fall of communism, when city roads were quieter.
Tragically, Mr Ziolkowski was hit by an unknown motorist on New Year's Eve 1990/91, while riding his conventional bike. He was left in a ditch and died of his injuries.
