Yet another fundamentally different approach to taking children from A to B (different to a plastic-mould child-seat or top-tube mounted mini-saddle) is the cargo bike/trike – a giant box fixed to the frame. I’ve seen both wood and fabric-based versions; the former is clearly sturdier but heavier, whilst the latter nips along a little quicker.
Not that weight matters all that much – after all, you’re not racing these things. You just need to get from A to B and back again, with stuff that would be too heavy to carry.
